About Ayurveda

Ayurveda means 'knowledge of life'. It is designed to promote health, balance and peace in those who subscribe to its wisdom.  Ayurveda teaches us that we are all born with a unique constitution, Prakriti. This constitution is either one of Pitta, Vata, or Kapha  or a mix of the three.
These three are the Doshas, which depending on their balance, either maintain or disrupt the body.  If we live in harmony with our birth constitution we will remain in good health and of sound mind and body.  However if we stray from our natural constitution and its rhythms, we become susceptible to disease.
Ayurveda works by helping each individual discover their constitution and how to live accordingly to stay in balance.  In many simple ways, balance can be achieved.

A consultation in Ayurvedic will help you discover your own constitution and what to do to live in harmony with it.  It will help you identify imbalances that may have taken form in the body and how to work to bring them back to balance through routine, lifestyle and dietary changes.  It will give you simple practical ways on how to live according to Ayurveda. Also, there will be dietary advice on how to eat and cook according to Ayurvedic principles. These changes are applied gradually to allow the individual to adapt without disrupting the Dosha.
