About the Chakra Awareness Workshop

This year, Paula will hold a one-day workshop on the seven major energy centres (Chakras), with particular emphasis on the heart. The heart is the central Chakra, and a clear, open heart is a pre-requisite for both good physical and emotional health. When we live in the world with an open heart, our relationships with family, friends and those we come in contact with blossom. A balanced heart centre allows us to engage compassionately with the world, from a place of inner strength and clarity. Over the course of the day we will explore the whole subtle energy system, through the seven major Chakras. Paula will focus on facilitating each participant in contacting the issues associated with each Chakra that may be currently holding them back and will use specific energetic balancing techniques to release these blocks.

The aim is to optimise the vibration of each centre, creating a strong foundation in the three lower Chakras, helping to let go of any negative emotions from past life-experiences and open up to living in the present with a tranquil, loving heart. In fact if the energy flows unimpeded through all Chakras, one is said to experience unparalleled peace, restoring a natural state of wholeness, health, happiness and total well-being. We will also explore the three higher centres with this in mind.

We recommend this day as an annual check-in to give yourself the time and space to go inward and work to correct any imbalances that may have accumulated during the year. When we direct our attention inside, our own innate wisdom begins to surface and shows us the areas that are out of balance in our lives – usually reflected in our underlying thoughts, beliefs, attitudes, relationships and emotions. These in turn can be reflected in imbalances in the body. We hold this workshop annually before Christmas so that we can integrate the life experiences we have gone through in that year, and recharge as much as possible, building further strength and clarity as we move into a new year.

In the first session on Saturday morning, we will tune into all seven chakras through meditation, postures and deep relaxation. During session 2, the deeper work begins when we focus on the heart specifically and look into the blocks that may exist, and how to release them. Finally on Saturday afternoon, we work through techniques to recharge the whole system.

Please note that participants should have some Yoga experience.

Ashtanga Yoga Dublin - paula herbertPaula has been a teacher and co-director at Ashtanga Yoga Dublin since 2004. She is authorised to teach traditional Ashtanga by Manju Pattabhi Jois. Prior to teaching yoga, Paula worked in the corporate environment in sales and marketing for 14 years. During this time she also studied Energetic Massage Therapy and Polarity Therapy/Counselling for 4 years as well as completing a 4-year Dilpoma in the Practice and Philosophy of Hatha Yoga. She is a registered Polarity Therapist and works with individual clients to facilitate the release of blockages and holding patterns on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels, helping to restore the energy field to optimum condition.
