About the workshop

This Workshop is suitable for everyone, beginners and experienced practitioners alike. David brings 25 years of teaching experience, and he passes on this experience in a very relaxed and fun way. He believes that Yoga should enrich our lives with health, joy, awareness and compassion. These qualities are developed through a gentle and appropriate practice of all of the limbs of Ashtanga Yoga.

Whether you are an Ashtanga practitioner, or do Iyengar or Hatha or any other modern style, the traditional teachings tell us all we need to know to make our Yoga practice as enriching as possible. We will look at what the traditional texts (Patanjali Yoga Sutra and Hatha Yoga Pradipika in particular) tells us about what Yoga practice is, how we should do it and what results to expect. Reminding ourselves of this original approach can help us get the most out of our practices and avoid common problems that can arise. We will explore how to practice primary series asana with this balance and how to begin to include a pranayama practice in your routine.

11:00am: Asana Practice Mysore Style
13:00: Lunch
14:00: A short talk on Traditional Ashtanga Yoga:
14:30: Techniques Workshop – How to approach the later postures of Primary Series.
15:30: Q&A and Closing

Ashtanga Yoga Dublin - David CollinsDavid has been practising Yoga for more than 30 years and teaching Yoga for 25 of them. His approach to Yoga is rooted in the traditional teachings of Patanjali and the Hatha Pradipika. David’s aim is to help everyone to develop an appropriate Yoga Practice comprisied of posture, breathing techniques, mediation and relaxation. He is indebted to all his teachers over the years.
